Bruce Oreck, the US ambassador, met with local entrepreneurs last week in Jyväskylä to provide valuable information on how to go about conquering America, and we had the honor to meet him again for the fourth time.

According to Annimari Lehtomäki, BioGTS Ltd.’s Development Director, companies should utilize open-mindedly development agencies, educational institutes, embassies and research networks in their internationalization process. Useful contacts may be found through surprising connections. BioGTS has employed international interns and thesis workers from the University of Jyväskylä as well as the University of Applied Sciences, through which it has obtained valuable connections. Jykes, Jyväskylä Regional Development Company, has been supporting the internationalization process by offering practical help, e.g. on-site in China and Russia.

BioGTS is looking for new openings in a number of areas: in Asia, particularly in China, South America, and the United States. Mr. Oreck has been actively working with promoting the Cleantech collaboration between Finnish and U.S. based companies.

“We are aiming for the international market, because Finland is relatively small market. Our goal is to start exporting soon, but it requires hard work and effort. Mr. Oreck has a very good network in the Cleantech sector in America, which can help us in the search for a partner in the United States”, says Lehtomäki.
