BioGTS and Biohauki Ltd., affiliate of Etelä-Savon Energia Oy, have signed a contract for delivering a biogas plant in Haukivuori, Mikkeli. Biohauki Ltd. is building a modern biogas plant based on dry fermentation technology in Haukivuori area in Mikkeli.
In the biogas plant, the by-products from agriculture and food industry are processed into biomethane, mainly for fuel for transport and for producing district heating. A modern biogas plant based on dry fermentation technology is the most cost-effective way of processing by-products from agriculture and reducing emissions related to manure handling. Processing in the biogas plant reduces methane and smell emissions related to animal manure by as much as 90 %. In the first stage, Biohauki Oy’s processing capacity will be ca. 7,700 t/year.
