According to the energy balance of Central Finland, around 80% of the energy budget of the region goes on imported energy. In Jyväskylä, a common will has been found to act as a pioneer in the production and use of local renewable energy. The carbon-emissionless and renewable energy-reliant Jyvässeutu area can only be created as a long-term joint effort by operators in different fields.
For its part, BioGTS Corp is involved in developing operating models for the profitable production of local energy. The most economically sensible thing to do is to process organic waste as a raw material for energy production where the waste is created. Fuel distribution should also be organized in accordance with local fuel thinking.
BioGTS is constructing a biogas plant for Mustankorkea, and the transportation methane tanking station that is coming in conjunction with the plant will, for its part, strengthen the supply of the locality in terms of biomethane intended for transportation use. The improvement in the supply of biogas will then lower the hurdle to changing to gas-based motoring. According to estimates, the transportation use of gas can be multiplied by ten times by 2019.
