During the course of this year, a biogas plant based on the new technology of BioGTS is being constructed in Kauhajoki. The biogas plant delivery contract between the Suupohja Educational Association of Municipalities and BioGTS Ltd was signed last Friday. The biogas plant will be constructed on the area of the Suupohja Vocational Institute’s Agricultural Education Institute. The Agricultural Education Institute will have a new modern cattle shed built and the biogas plant of BioGTS will come in connection with that. On the basis of the contract, the delivery of the plant will take place by the end of November this year. The value of the plant order is an estimated €1.45 million.
As fuel, the plant will use the manure produced from the Suupohja Agricultural Education Institute’s new cattle shed, green hay and the cell sap of potatoes. When completed, the biogas plant will be in teaching use and the biogas specialists of the future will be trained there. The plant at Suupohja will produce transport fuel gas; biomethane is also used to produce heat and electricity. The Vocational Institute is planning to acquire a gas-fuelled tractor and biogas car for its use.
