BioGTS has signed the Baltic Sea Commitment managed by the Baltic Sea Action Group. BioGTS commits to advancing the recycling of nutrients by developing the use of manure in biogas production and improving the quality of the fertilizer made from the digestion residue left over.
Keeping nutrients in utilisation reduces their ending up in bodies of water. BioGTS is piloting technologies with which it’s possible to utilize the nutrients contained in the digestion residue left over in the biogas process more efficiently than at present. Furthermore, increasing the amount of nitrogen in fertilizers made from digestion residues is tested in the piloting. In this way, the recycling of nutrients is improved and the quality of recycled fertilizers is also developed in a cost-effective manner.
The Baltic Sea Action Group is an independent foundation working towards saving the Baltic Sea.
