BioGTS has won the contract to deliver a biogas upgrading and refueling unit to the biogas plant of the Natural Resources Institute in Sotkamo.

The biogas plant delivered by BioGTS to the Natural Resources Institute Finland facility in Sotkamo is based on dry anaerobic digestion process. It is the first farm-scale biogas plant in Finland. The biogas plant together with the upgrading and refueling unit will improve the energy self-sufficiency of the research center, as the biogas produced can be used for heating or fuel the tractor and biogas car of the Natural Resources Institute. The plant in Sotkamo utilizes grass silage, dry manure and fish processing waste as feedstocks.
In the BioGTS® biogas upgrading and refueling unit the raw biogas is upgraded to biomethane, which is done by increasing the methane content similar to natural gas. In addition, the biomethane is pressurized in order to be used as vehicle fuel or, for example, injected into the natural gas grid.

The upgraded biogas from the biogas upgrading and refueling unit can be used for example to fuel the tractor and biogas car of the Natural Resources Institute in Sotkamo.
