According to Sitra’s (Finnish: Suomen itsenäisyyden juhlarahasto), a public fund aimed at building a successful Finland for tomorrow, recently published report (in Finnish), Finland’s current account would improve by €300 million if a third of the passenger car drivers switched to using Finnish biodiesel as a transport fuel.
The report reviewed cleantech technologies and their impact by 2030. The transition of energy sector into cleantech solutions would have the most significant effects on current account, estimating an improvement of €300 million. Stronger Finnish markets in renewable fuels and sustainable technologies will increase the degree of domestic origin, and at the same time also increase the export potential. The biggest effects on employment would be noticed in biofuels and bioenergy processing chains, as well as improving the energy efficiency of buildings by repairing. Bioenergy is the most significant solution in terms of reduction of emissions. Other solutions can be found in wind and solar power generation.
“The international energy sector’s cleantech market offers considerable growth opportunities, but Finland needs to get busy in order to achieve them,” says Sitra’s Director Mari Pantsar.
BioGTS Ltd. contributes to strengthening sustainable technology offerings by developing solutions for the production of biogas and biodiesel, and energy-efficient building.
