At the end of 2016 in Kauhajoki, Finland, the biogas plant based on the new technology of BioGTS started its operation. Manure from the new cattle shed of Suupohja Vocational Institute, grass silage and potato-based residues are used as plant’s feedstock. The biogas plant’s capacity is about 5,000 tonnes per year. The plant produces approximately 1,900 MWh of biogas annually, which corresponds to 190 passenger cars annual fuel consumption.

The biogas plant located in the area of Suupohja Agricultural Education Institute is utilized in teaching purposes, and the future biogas specialists are trained there. The plant at Suupohja produces transportation gas fuel, and biomethane is also used to produce heat and electricity. The plant was constructed at the BioGTS Ltd site in Jyväskylä, Finland.
