The opening ceremony of the biogas plant of Haminan Energia will be held in Virolahti on April 25, 2016. On the day of the inauguration, Haminan Energia is organizing its own function for invited guests from 1 pm to 3 pm, and from 3 pm to 4 pm, the doors of the plant are open to everyone who is interested in the subject.
From construction to startup in half a year
The domestic biogas and biodiesel plant constructor BioGTS Corp. began construction of the biogas plant of Haminan Energia in May 2015. The first stage of commissioning began quickly, after about half a year in the latter part of 2015.
Expansion of the plant under planning
The construction and commissioning stages, which have gone well, and the positive usage experiences make it possible to plan increasing the biomass processing capacity of the plant from the current 19,500 tons to 36,000 tons. The expansion is preliminarily already due to start during 2016. The current three reactors of the biogas plant annually produce 15 – 20 GWh of clean biogas.
Demand for the end products has been strong
A third of the raw material of the plant is grass mass from agriculture, a third waste from the food industry and a third separately collected biowaste. Demand for the electricity, heat and transportation gas produced by the plant has been strong and thus increasing the capacity of the plant is very well justified from this perspective as well.
