BioGTS is going to build the largest ever biogas plant in Central Finland for the Mustankorkea Ltd.’s recycling center this spring. The plant will be up and running in spring 2017.
Mustankorkea Ltd. is going to launch the largest dry fermentation biogas plant in Central Finland. Among other things the plant supplied by BioGTS is going to process separately collected bio-waste and sludge from waste water treatment into biomethane for transport fuel. The plant, fitted with new generation biogas technology, will have the capacity to treat the Jyväskylä area waste volumes long into the future. The new biogas plant is going to stand next to the already operating composting plant and both will form a single unit generating renewable energy from biogas and humus and nutrient rich compost as end products. The plant’s treatment capacity will be initially app. 19,000 tons of waste a year; the gas generated by the plant is enough to fuel app. 2,000 passenger cars.
The Ministry of Employment and the Economy granted support to the Mustankorkea biogas plant in the amount of 2.2 million euros in February 2016. This will cover more than a quarter of the investment worth nearly 8 million euros. Detail engineering of the plant starts immediately and the launch is planned for spring 2017.
